Matthew 6:19 (GNT)
“Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal.”
Being rich is not a problem and every Christian should be rich but the problem comes when we make riches a big deal. The bible says that what we put our trust in more than God, becomes a god. Having savings account and making budget is good but it becomes a problem when savings become your source of confidence. (Storing up treasure on earth). Our confidence should always be in God and not possessions.
Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Just as we do savings on earth, we must learn to do savings in heaven as well. The bible says in Proverbs 19:17 that giving to the poor or needy is a loan to God and He pays back in full. There is no moth or fire that can destroy that loan God has for you. So If you are able to budget for money on earth, then you must budget for the heavenly as well. You tell yourself to reach the message of Christ to a certain number of people monthly or yearly. That's a heavenly budget.
Brethren in every place we are in, be it school, workplace or home, let's get our priorities right. Let's learn to store treasure in heaven. If you are at school, work to excel so that when you share the message of Christ, people will believe in you. At the workplace, become rich so that when you tell people that God provides, your life is an evidence. But ultimately let's not put trust in possessions, they will come and go. When you build a nice house or get a car, that's when you reach out more to God's people.
God bless your day.
