Matthew 6:29 (KJV)
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:24 that you cannot serve both God and mammon. Many of us have always served mammon either knowingly or unknowingly. The bible defines mammon as deceitful riches, money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is trusted in or valued more than the Lord. When you value something, you put your trust in it, worship it and provide time for it. Brethren understand this, the bible says that when you love one god, you end up hating the other.
The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being. Many of us value our work places more than we value the things of God. That's mammon. You will find a Christian keeping time at the workplace 6 days a week and making sure he pleases the boss always but when it comes to Sunday, he is the last to enter church if at all he attends. When you call for fellowship or bible study, they will tell you that they are busy. Question? Where is your treasure? Loving one god, you end up hating the other.
Who is your Master? God or money? The bible says money answereth to all things. Meaning money must answer to you when you need it and not you answering to money. When you answer to money, you make it your master. Money always answered to Jesus. When He was confronted with tax, He sent Peter to collect it from the fish. He did not bunk church because He had to look for money to pay tax. He is Master over money.
For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.
May God be your Master always
