Matthew 22:37-39 (AMPC)
“And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). [Deut. 6:5.] This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself. [Lev. 19:18.]”
The life of Christianity traces its roots in love. That's why (John 3.16) tells us that, "For God so loved the world..." For anything to change, it begins with love. We cannot say that we love God if we cannot love our neighbour whom we see. Even Paul says in (1 Cor 13:13) that love is the greatest compared to faith and hope. You may preach the gospel but if it does not spring from love, you may waste your energy because the hearts of men are loosened by the way we act. Jesus is the greatest lover of all time. He loved all the people the world had labeled as undeserving. His circle of friends was never filled with righteous people. Some of His friends denied and betrayed Him but He loved them anyway. He was surrounded by prostitutes, tax collectors, name it. Because of that, He won all their hearts.
Brethren if we genuinely want to serve God, let our life reflect love. People will yearn to serve the God you serve because of the love they see in you. Love here means that you must allow being inconvenienced in all you do. For example we all know that going to church is beneficial but what benefit will it bring when you bypass an accident person simply because you are rushing to church. Where is love in that. We are called to be fishers of men and unfinished business lies within the people we neglect.
God teach us to love the way you do.
Good day
